티끌에서 왕좌로 그리고 파멸까지(왕상 16:1-7)
지난 시간에 우리는 이스라엘의 세 번째 왕 바아사의 이야기를 살펴보았는데요. 바아사가 하나님의 뜻대로 행하지 아니하였고 여로보암의 길로 갔기 때문에 악한 왕이었다고 하는 이야기를 잠시 짧게 설명한 것을 살펴보았습니다. 이십사 년 동안 북 이스라엘을 다스렸기 때문에 어쩌면 그런대로 나름대로 왕의 역할을 잘한 것이라고 할 수도 있겠지만, 그러나 하나님의 관점에서 봤을 때는 악한 길로 갔던 왕이었다 하는 것을 우리가 지난 시간에 살펴본 적이 있습니다. 오늘 본문의 말씀은 그러한 바아사를 향해서 하나님께서 심판하시는 이야기가 오늘 본문의 말씀에 기록되어 있습니다.
하나님께서 선지자를 보내서 이 바아사를 심판하는 그 심판의 내용, 어떤 심판이 있을 것인가에 대해서 설명한 내용이 오늘 본문의 말씀이라고 하겠는데요. 먼저 하나님께서 이런 심판의 말씀을 말씀하시기 전에 바아사가 어떤 상황이었는가, 어떤 하나님의 은혜를 입었던 사람인가에 대해서 먼저 상기시켜 주는 이야기를 먼저 했습니다. 열왕기상 16장 2절 말씀에 보면 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “내가 너를 티끌에서 들어 내 백성 이스라엘 위에 주권자가 되게 하였거늘 네가 여로보암의 길로 행하며 내 백성 이스라엘에게 범죄하게 하여 그들의 죄로 나를 노엽게 하였은즉” 이 바아사의 이야기를 한마디로 요약해 주고 있는 것이죠. 바아사가 누구였는가? 원래 티끌과 같은 존재였다 이겁니다. 뭔가 대단한 사람, 뭔가 가지고 있는 사람, 그럴 만한 사람이 아니라 정말 보잘것없는 한 인생을 하나님께서 어디까지 세워주셨는가, 한 나라의 왕으로까지 올려주셨다고 하는 거죠.
하나님께서 이 티끌과 같은 인생을 들어 쓰셔서 그래서 이스라엘의 주권자로, 왕으로 삼아 주셨다고 하는 사실을 생각한다고 하면 바아사가 어떤 마음을 가지고 살아야 했었을까요? “감사하구나. 내가 어떻게 나 같은 사람이, 나 같은 연약한 자가 어떻게 내가 왕이 되었을까? 하나님께서 나를 왜 왕으로 세우셨을까?” 하나님께서 나와 같이 그렇게 연약한 자를 왕으로 세워주신 그 이유가 무엇일까를 생각하면서 하나님의 말씀에 순종하며 복종하며 살아갔었어야 했었을 거라고 생각이 듭니다. 하지만 안타깝게도 바아사는 자기가 이런 하나님의 놀라운 은총을 입었다고 하는 것을 망각해 버린 것이죠. 바아사가 원래 누구였습니까? 아무것도 아니었던 것이죠. 바아사가 어떤 사람이었는가 살펴보면 바아사는 잇사갈 지파의 사람이었습니다. 원래 유대 민족에서 왕족이 어느 지파에서 나오게 되어 있죠? 유다 지파에서 나오는 것이 맞단 말이죠.
유다 지파에서 왕이 나오는 것인데, 잇사갈 지파는 왕족과는 관계없는 그런 지파였음에도 불구하고 그냥 평민의 지파 가운데서 그가 왕이 되었다고 하는 것, 어쩌면 티끌에서 주권자가 되었다고 이야기할 수 있을 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라 바아사의 아버지가 누구였습니까? 바아사의 아버지는 누구죠? 아히야라고 하는 사람입니다. 아히야가 누굽니까? 혹시 아십니까? 모르죠, 아무것도 아니기 때문에 모르는 거예요. 다윗이나 솔로몬과 같은 사람이 아닌 겁니다. 아히야 선지자라고 하는 이름을 가진 선지자가 있지만 그 아히야 선지자하고는 다른 아히야, 동명이인 아히야인데 이 아히야는 누구였는가? 그냥 아무것도 아니에요. 뭔가 이스라엘 역사 가운데 뭔가 대단한 일을 한 사람도 아니고 아무것도 아닌 그 평범한 가정 가운데서 바아사가 왕위로 올라가게 되었다라고 할 수가 있는 것이고요.
바아사는 어떻게 왕이 되었는가, 지지난 시간에 우리가 살펴본 것처럼 열왕기상 15장 27절의 말씀에 보면 “이에 잇사갈 족속 아히야의 아들 바아사가 그를 모반하여 블레셋 사람에게 속한 기브돈에서 그를 죽였으니 이는 나답과 온 이스라엘이 기브돈을 에워싸고 있었음이더라” 다시 말하자면 나답이라고 하는 왕의 신하였고 나답이 거느리고 있는 부하 중에 한 사람이 바로 이 바아사라고 하는 사람이었는데요. 하나님께서 나답을 심판하시기 위해 아무것도 아닌 바아사를 들어 쓰셔서 나답을 심판하게 하시고 그리고 왕위로 올리셨다고 한다면, 그러면 이 바아사가 “하나님, 나 같은 사람을 사용해 주시니 감사합니다” 하면서 겸손하게 하나님께 순종하면서 살았어야 되지만 안타깝게도 바아사는 그렇게 하지 않고 어떻게 했는가, 여호와 하나님을 노하게 하였다 그렇게 기록하고 있는 것이죠. 만왕의 왕이신 하나님을 화나게 하면 어떻게 될까요? 만왕의 왕이신 하나님을 분노하게 하면 어떻게 될까요?
잠언 20장 2절 말씀에 보니까 이렇게 기록합니다. “왕의 진노는 사자의 부르짖음 같으니 그를 노하게 하는 것은 자기의 생명을 해하는 것이니라” 그러니까 왕을 노하게 한다면, 만왕의 왕이신 하나님을 분노하게 만든다고 하면 그것이 어떤 행위인가, 자살 행위와 똑같은 것이다라고 말할 수가 있는 것이죠. 그러니까 이 바아사 왕이 하나님을 진노하게 만들었기 때문에 결국 하나님의 심판을 받아 죽임을 당할 수밖에 없는 그런 상황 가운데 몰리게 되었던 것이죠. 사실 이렇게 바아사가 이렇게 된 것은 자신의 능력으로 한 것일까요? 자신이 뛰어나서 그렇게 왕이 된 것일까요? 그렇지 않습니다. 열왕기상 15장 28절 말씀에 보면 이렇게 기록합니다. “유다의 아사 왕 셋째 해에 바아사가 나답을 죽이고 대신하여 왕이 되었고” 이것이 자신의 능력으로 된 것이냐 하면 그게 아니에요. 누구, 누가 이 바아사를 사용하신 겁니까? 하나님께서 사용하신 것이죠.
하나님께서 나답을 징계하시기 위해서 바아사를 사용하셔서 그렇게 징계하신, 그래서 하나님의 도구로 사용된 바아사였는데 이 바아사가 하나님의 은혜를 망각해 버리고 하나님의 은혜를 잊어버리고 하나님을 노엽게 했다고 하는 것이 너무나도 안타까운 일이죠. 만일 그렇게 하나님을 노엽게 한다고 한다면 바아사에게 닥칠 일은 무엇일까요? 심판이죠. 콩 심은 데는 무엇이 납니까? 콩이 납니다. 팥을 심으면 뭐가 나죠? 팥이 납니다. 하나님의 진노를 일으키게 되면 진노를 당할 수밖에 없다는 이 간단한 원리를 바아사는 망각했다고 하는 것이 아쉽습니다. 하나님께서 오늘 이 본문의 말씀 가운데서 이 바아사를 향해서 심판의 선언을 해 주셨는데요. 열왕기상 16장 4절 말씀에 이렇게 기록하고 있습니다. “바아사에게 속한 자가 성읍에서 죽은즉 개가 먹고 그에게 속한 자가 들에서 죽은즉 공중의 새가 먹으리라 하셨더라” 이렇게 기록하고 있는데요. 이것은 이 바아사의 죽음이 어떤 죽음이 될 것이라는 것을 의미합니까?
정말 비참한 죽음을 맞이하게 될 거다, 정말 비참한 종말이 될 것이라는 것을 하나님께서 예언해 주셨습니다. 구약 성경에 보면 이렇게 성읍에서 죽으면 개가 먹고, 들에서 죽으면 새가 먹을 것이라는 그런 심판을 받은 왕이 3명이 있습니다. 누구 누구 누구입니까? 퀴즈. 예, 아합 왕이 그랬죠? 또 하나 있습니다. 오늘 본문의 바아사 왕이 있습니다. 또 하나 있습니다. 누가 있습니까? 우리가 얼마 전에 살펴본 왕입니다. 여로보암 왕입니다. 그런데 하나도 기억이 안 나는데 괜찮습니다. 아무튼 이런 엄청난 심판의 선언을 받게 되었다고 하는 것이 너무나도 안타까운 일이죠. 왜냐하면 이런 심판의 선언을 들을 수도 있었지만 정반대의 축복의 선언을 들을 수도 있었기 때문입니다. 만일 바아사가 하나님의 뜻에 따라 순종하며 하나님을 예배하는 자로, 하나님의 말씀대로 순종하며 사는 바아사였다고 한다면 심판을 받았을까요? 아니요.
하나님께서 축복해 주시고 그의 삶이 장구하게 될 것이고, 그의 자녀들이 그 뒤를 계속 이어서 갈 수 있는 놀라운 축복을 받을 수도 있었는데 그 기회가 없었던 것이 아니라 기회가 있었는데 그것을 걷어차 버리고 결국 파멸의 길로 걸어갔다고 하는 것이 안타까운 것이죠. 티끌에서부터 왕좌까지 일으켜 세워주셨는데 그 왕좌에서 영광과 그 축복을 누리면서 살 수 있었음에도 불구하고, 그 왕좌 가운데서 나락으로 떨어져버려 파멸로 떨어지게 되었다고 하는 것이 너무나도 안타까운 일입니다. 차라리 왕좌에 오르지 않았었더라면 백성들을 죄로 가게 만들지도 아니하였고 자기도 고통을 당하지 않는, 차라리 왕좌에 오르지 않았던 것이 훨씬 더 나을 뻔했던 그런 삶을 살았던 것이 너무나도 안타까운 이야기라 하겠습니다. 여기까지가 오늘의 본문의 이야기인데요. 이 본문의 이야기를 통해서 우리가 어떠한 교훈을 얻어야 하겠습니까? 어떤 교훈을 얻어야 합니까? 우리도 하나님의 말씀에 순종하며 살아야 되겠다.
하나님의 뜻이 무엇인가를 분별하며 살아야 되겠다라고 하는 마음의 결단들이 우리 모두에게 있을 수 있기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다. 오늘 바아사 왕을 향해서 하나님께서 하신 말씀이 사실은 우리들에게 하신 말씀일 수 있다고 하는 것을 생각해 보셨습니까? 하나님께서 바아사 왕에게 말하기를 뭐라고 말씀하시냐면 “내가 너를 티끌에서부터 들어 올려 주권자로 삼았다”고 얘기했는데 이 이야기가 누구의 이야기예요? 우리들의 이야기예요. 믿습니까? 우리들의 이야기란 말이에요. 바아사에게만 했던 이야기가 아니라 우리들의 이야기예요. 어떤 점에서 그렇죠? 하나님께서 태초에 첫 사람들을 만드실 때 무엇으로 사람을 만들었어요? 흙으로 만들었다는, 흙을 빚어서 사람을 만들었어요. 그런데 그 흙이라고 하는 히브리어 단어가 뭔 줄 아세요? 티끌이라고 오늘 표현한 이 단어랑 똑같은 단어예요. 그러니까 번역이 좀 아쉬워요. 창세기에서도 티끌이라고 번역하고 여기서도 티끌이라고 번역하면 우리가 잘 이해할 수 있었을까요?
하나님께서 태초에 아담을 만드실 때 티끌을 가지고 아담을 만드셨다라고 번역을 해주면 좋을 텐데, 아니면 여기서 열왕기상의 말씀 가운데서 “내가 너를 흙에서부터 들어 올려 왕좌에 세워주었는데”라고 이야기했다라고 한다면 똑같은 단어니까 우리가 좀 더 그 상황을 이해하기 좋을 텐데요. 우리도 가만히 생각해 보면 우리가 무엇으로 만들어졌는가. 히브리어 ‘아파르’, 흙, 티끌, 먼지라고 번역할 수 있는 이 정말 보잘것없는, 그냥 사람들이 밟고 다니는 그 흙에서부터, 티끌에서부터, 먼지에서부터 하나님께서 우리를 사람으로 만드셨어요. 그런데 우리를 사람으로 만들었는데 우리가 그냥 아무런 존재가 아닌 사람으로 만드셨나요? 어떤 존재로 만드셨어요? 창세기 2장에 하나님의 형상으로 만들어서 온 세상을 다스리는 주권자로 만드신 거예요. 우리 인생을 뭘로 만들었어요? 왕으로 만드신 거예요.
주권자로 만드신 거예요. 그 옛날 바아사와 같은 사람을 저 낮은 천민 가운데서 들어 올리셔서 이스라엘의 주권자로 삼으셨던 것처럼, 하나님은 우리를 어떻게 만드셨는가, 우리를 아무것도 아닌 티끌에서부터, 아무런 먼지로부터 우리를 빚으셔서 우리를 어떻게 만드셨는가, 하나님의 형상으로 만드셨어요. 그리고 온 세상 생육하고 번성하며 온 천하를 다 다스려라, 하늘의 공중에 사는 새들과 짐승들과 이 세상에 있는 모든 것들을 다스릴 권한을 우리 인생들에게 주시면서 너희가 이 세상을 다스리고 정복하고 그래서 하나님의 뜻에 따라 이 세상을 다스리라고 사람들에게 명령해 주셨는데 그렇게 우리를 만들어 주셨단 말이에요. 그러니까 우리가 항상 아침에 일어날 때마다 “하나님께서 나를 왕으로 만드셨지” 한 번씩 말하고 일어나시기 바랍니다. 오늘 하루 내가 왕으로 살아야 되겠다. 우리 옆 사람들에게 한번 리마인드 시켜줍시다. 상기시켜줍시다. 뭐라고 해야 되죠? “상감마마” 한번 해보세요.
하나님께서는 우리를 티끌에서부터 빚어서 온 세상을 다스릴 만왕의 왕으로, 온 세상을 다스릴 왕으로 만들어 주셨다고 하는 것을 기억해야 합니다. 그렇다고 한다면 우리가 어떻게 살아야 할까요? 하나님의 말씀대로 순종하며 이 세상을 하나님의 뜻대로 다스리며, 하나님께서 원하시는 방식대로 이 세상을 우리가 봉사하고 섬길 때 하나님께서 우리들 가운데 은혜로 함께해 주실 것이라고 믿습니다. 우리의 인생이 바아사의 길로 가면 안 되는 거예요. 물질을 우상으로 삼고 이 세상의 썩어질 것들을 우리들의 우상으로 삼아서, 그래서 마치 바아사가 금송아지 앞에서 머리를 조아리고 경배했던 것처럼 우리의 인생이 이 세상의 것들을 바라보면서 이 세상 앞에 굴복하며 사는 인생이 아니라, 우리에게 이런 자리를 허락하신 분은 하나님 한 분이시니 하나님의 선하신 이름을 온 세상에 전파하며 말씀을 증거하고 하나님의 자녀로서 왕 같은 제사장의 사명들을 우리 모두가 다 잘 감당해 나가는 우리 모두가 되어야 될 줄로 믿습니다.
특별히 우리 1여전도회 회원들이 오늘 헌신 예배로 드리는 가운데 있는데, 우리들의 삶이 왕과 같은 역할들을, 하나님께서 세우신 왕의 역할들을 잘 감당해 나가는 우리 모두가 되어야 될 줄로 믿습니다. 특별히 우리가 말을 통해서 사람들로 하여금 행복하게 만들고, 우리의 말을 통해서 그 사람을 세워주고 하나님의 자녀로 일깨워 주고, 그래서 모든 사람들이 하나님의 자녀가 될 수 있도록 그런 선한 왕, 하나님의 뜻에 따라 순종하는 왕의, 그래서 하나님의 사명들을 잘 감당해 나가는 우리 모두가 되어야 할 것입니다. 우리는 두려워해야 합니다.
당장 하나님의 심판이 없다고 해서, 지금 우리가 하나님의 뜻대로 살지 못한다고 해서 하나님께서 그 옛날 바아사를 심판하셨던 것처럼 똑같이 지금 당장 우리에게 심판하지 않을 수는 있지만, 그러나 분명하게 기억해야 될 것은 우리가 악하게 살고 하나님의 뜻을 저버리며 살면 결국 하나님의 심판이 있을 것이라는 사실을 기억하며, 두려워 떠는 마음으로 진실하게 하나님의 뜻에 따라 순종하며 나가는 우리 모두가 다 될 수 있기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.
From Dust to the Throne: The Tragedy of Forgotten Grace
Last time, we examined the story of Baasha, the third king of Israel. We briefly looked at how he was a wicked king who did not act according to God’s will but walked in the way of Jeroboam. Because he ruled Northern Israel for twenty-four years, one might say he performed his role as a king reasonably well in his own way; however, we noted last time that from God’s perspective, he was a king who walked a wicked path. Today’s text records the story of God’s judgment upon that very Baasha.
Today’s passage describes the content of the judgment God sent through a prophet—specifically, what kind of judgment would befall Baasha. But before God spoke these words of judgment, He first reminded Baasha of his situation and the grace he had received. 1 Kings 16:2 (ESV) says:
“Since I exalted you out of the dust and made you leader over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, provoking me to anger with their sins…” This summarizes Baasha’s story in a single sentence. Who was Baasha? He was originally a being like “dust.” He wasn’t someone great, someone who possessed much, or someone naturally entitled to power; yet, how high did God raise this truly insignificant life? He raised him all the way to be the king of a nation.
When we consider that God took this life of dust and made him a leader and king over Israel, what kind of heart should Baasha have lived with? He should have thought, “How grateful I am! How could someone like me—someone so weak—become a king? Why did God establish me as king?” Thinking of the reason God set such a weak person as king, he should have lived in obedience and submission to God’s word. Unfortunately, Baasha forgot that he had received such amazing grace from God. Who was Baasha originally? He was nothing. If we look at who Baasha was, he was a man from the tribe of Issachar. In the Jewish nation, which tribe is the royalty supposed to come from? It is right for the king to come from the tribe of Judah.
Kings were to come from Judah, yet Baasha became king from a common tribe like Issachar, which had no connection to royalty. In that sense, he truly became a “leader out of the dust.” Furthermore, who was Baasha’s father? His name was Ahijah. Do you know who this Ahijah was? You don’t, and you don’t know him because he was nobody. He wasn’t someone like David or Solomon. There is a prophet by the same name, Ahijah, but this was a different person—an “Ahijah” with the same name but a different identity. This Ahijah was simply a nobody. He wasn’t someone who did anything great in Israel’s history; it was from such an ordinary family that Baasha rose to the throne.
How did Baasha become king? As we looked at two sessions ago in 1 Kings 15:27, it says: “Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him, and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, while Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.” In other words, Baasha was a servant of King Nadab and one of the subordinates under his command. If God used the insignificant Baasha to judge Nadab and raised him to the throne, then Baasha should have lived in humble obedience, saying, “God, thank You for using someone like me.” Instead, he did not, and the record says he “provoked the LORD God to anger.” What happens if you make God, the King of kings, angry? What happens if you enrage the Almighty King?
Proverbs 20:2 (ESV) records: “The dread of a king is like the growling of a lion; whoever provokes him to anger forfeits his life.” Therefore, if you enrage a king—especially God, the King of kings—it is the same as a suicidal act. Because King Baasha provoked God to anger, he ended up in a situation where he had no choice but to be judged and killed by God. In fact, did Baasha become king through his own ability? Did he become king because he was outstanding? No. 1 Kings 15:28 (ESV) records: “In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah killed him and reigned in his place.” This didn’t happen by his own power. Who was using Baasha? It was God.
God used Baasha to discipline Nadab; thus, Baasha was an instrument used by God. Yet, it is deeply regrettable that he forgot God’s grace and provoked Him to anger. If one provokes God in such a way, what will happen to them? Judgment. What grows where you plant beans? Beans grow. What grows where you plant red beans? Red beans grow. It is a shame that Baasha forgot the simple principle that if you stir up God’s wrath, you cannot help but suffer that wrath. In today’s passage, God proclaimed a judgment toward Baasha. 1 Kings 16:4 (ESV) records:
“Anyone belonging to Baasha who dies in the city the dogs shall eat, and anyone of his who dies in the open country the birds of the heavens shall eat.” What does this indicate about Baasha’s death?
God prophesied that he would meet a truly miserable death—a truly miserable end. In the Old Testament, there are three kings who received this specific judgment of being eaten by dogs in the city and birds in the fields. Who are they? Here is a quiz. Yes, King Ahab was one. Then there is King Baasha in today’s text. And there is one more. Who is it? It is a king we looked at recently: King Jeroboam. It’s okay if you don’t remember! Regardless, it is a truly regrettable thing to receive such a terrifying proclamation of judgment. Why? Because while he heard this proclamation of judgment, he could have heard a proclamation of blessing instead. If Baasha had been a man who obeyed God’s will, worshipped Him, and lived in submission to His word, would he have been judged? No.
God would have blessed him, his life would have been long-lasting, and he could have received the marvelous blessing of his children continuing after him. It’s not that he didn’t have the opportunity; he had it, but he kicked it away and walked the path of ruin. He was raised from the dust to the throne, and although he could have lived enjoying glory and blessing on that throne, it is so sad that he fell from that height into the abyss of destruction. It would have been better if he had never ascended the throne at all; then he wouldn’t have led the people into sin, nor would he have suffered such pain himself. This is the story of today’s text. What lesson should we learn through this? We must resolve in our hearts to live in obedience to God’s word.
Have you considered that the words God spoke to King Baasha might actually be words spoken to us? God said to Baasha, “I exalted you out of the dust and made you leader,” and this is our story. Do you believe this? This is our story. It’s not just a story for Baasha; it’s ours. In what sense? When God created the first humans in the beginning, what did He make them from? He formed man from the “dust of the ground.” Do you know what the Hebrew word for “dust” or “ground” is? It is the exact same word used for “dust” in today’s passage. The translation is a bit unfortunate. If Genesis used “dust” and this passage used “dust,” we would have understood it clearly.
It would have been better if it was translated that God made Adam using “dust,” or if 1 Kings said, “I exalted you from the ‘ground’ and set you on the throne.” If we think about it quietly, what are we made of? The Hebrew word is ‘aphar’. Whether translated as ground, dust, or dirt, God made us into humans from this truly insignificant “dust” that people step on. But when He made us, did He make us as “nobodies”? What kind of beings did He make us? In Genesis 2, He made us in the image of God and established us as sovereigns over the whole world. What did He make our lives to be? He made us kings.
He made us sovereigns. Just as He raised someone like Baasha from the low commoners to be the leader of Israel, God formed us from the “nothingness” of dust into His image. He commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, to fill the earth and subdue it, and gave us the authority to rule over the birds of the air, the beasts of the earth, and everything in this world. He made us that way. Therefore, I hope you wake up every morning and say once, “God made me a king.” I will live as royalty today. Let’s remind the person next to us. What should we say? “Your Majesty.”
We must remember that God formed us from dust to be kings who rule the world under Him. If that is so, how should we live? When we rule this world according to God’s will in obedience to His word, and when we serve and minister in the way He desires, I believe God will be with us in grace. Our lives must not walk the path of Baasha. We must not make material things our idols or worship the perishing things of this world—just as Baasha bowed down and worshipped before the golden calves. We must not be a life that surrenders before the things of this world. Since the only one who allowed us this position is God, we must spread His good name to the whole world, testify to His word, and fulfill our mission as a “royal priesthood.”
I pray that we all fulfill the role of kings established by God. Specifically, through our words, let us make people happy, build them up, and awaken them as children of God. Let us become good kings who obey God’s will so that everyone can become His children. We must have a sense of holy fear.
Even if there is no immediate judgment from God, and even if He doesn’t judge us right this moment like He did Baasha for failing to live by His will, we must clearly remember that if we live wickedly and forsake His will, there will eventually be a judgment. Remembering this, I pray in the name of the Lord that we all may move forward in sincere obedience to God’s will with a heart of trembling and awe.
